With the Midland GXT-1000-VP4 you get a full 5 watts of power, allowing for a range of up to 36 miles and it's JIS4 Waterproof. This value pack includes rechargeable batteries, a desktop charger with AC wall and DC vehicle adapters, and a pair of headsets with microphones. Being submersible up to 3 feet for 30 minutes and durable makes this an all weather radio.

The GXT-1000 is also a weather radio, supporting both the NOAA weather channels and NOAA weather alerts. If severe weather is entering your area, the GXT-1000 can pro-actively alert you! Hands-free operation (with 9 sensitivity levels) is supported, and the hands-free feature is made simpler by the headsets included with this value pack! Other features include a vibrating alert, dual channel watch, selectable high/medium/low power modes, and channel scan. A 3 year warranty is also provided by Midland on this model. The Midland GXT1000VP4 is also certified lead free.

The Midland GXT-1000 supports a total of 55 channels plus privacy codes - 22 standard FRS/GMRS channels and 28 extra channels. Each standard channel supports 284 privacy codes. The GXT-1000 also has Midland’s new Whisper Mode. With the Whisper Mode enabled the radio will transmit at a high sound level even if you are whispering into the microphone. Perfect for those times that stealth is required. An advanced feature supported by the GXT-1000-VP4 is "group mode". You can make direct calls from one radio to another. In addition, when you receive a "direct call", the receiving GXT1000 will display the "caller id number" of the transmitting radio.
